Apology To An Old Friend

You can say you were around,
But we never spoke,
Unless, of course, you count
Passing occasional notes.
I forgot who you were;
I forgot who I was;
I forgot whatever it was
That made me think I was in love.
I was broken inside out,
And maybe you were, too;
I didn't want to hurt you,
But I hurt you no matter what I do.
I'm sorry for what I did;
I know it wasn't right.
I hope someday you find a girl
Who knows how to treat you kindly.
