You'd Still Be Here

< Sigh. This is the probably with writing something off the top of your head: I had the idea for the first verse and refrain, and then my mind went blank. I think I messed up the meter in the second verse, in addition to it being lame. I'll probably fiddle with it more over time. If you have any advice, please help!!! >

You told him you'd see him the next day,
Before you turned and walked away,
And he believed every word.
Your heavy heart remained hidden,
Behind the smile he was given,
And yet you lied to him.
REFRAIN:
You didn't see him listen for your heart beat,
You didn't see him crying on your hair.
You didn't see him stumbling to his feet,
You didn't see how much he cared.
Maybe if you'd know,
You should've known,
You should've known,
Maybe if you'd known,
You'd still be here.

You told him everything was okay,
You begged that he wouldn't go away,
And so he stayed with you.
You told him that he made you happy,
And  now all your days were sunny,
And everything felt right.
REFRAIN
