Oh, Melaney!

She was seventeen,
She didn't like anything,
The rest of us did.
Funny thing,
She was allergic to chocolate,
But was never tempted to try it,
Anyway.
And oh, Melaney,
We were the worst teasers,
And it never ceases to sting.
Oh, Melaney,
You're the most beautiful memory,
Melaney,
She didn't talk about boys,
Like the rest of us did,
And when the dance started,
She's always the one who hid.
If only she could see,
All of our regrets;
She has so many more friends,
Than she did.
Oh, Melaney,
You're the most beautiful memory.
Oh, Melaney,
Her Savior set her free,
Sooner than we expected.
And for awhile,
Everyone tried to be just like her,
Before they forgot her altogether.
No one understands,
Why my eyes are still wet,
I must be mad,
She was just another kid,
Another lonely soul,
Another lost and quiet ghost.
"Man," I  "Gotta let her go!"
But, oh Melaney!
You're the most beautiful memory;
You reminded me,
Of something I never plan to forget.
Oh, Melaney,
Melaney,
Melaney.
