Last summer was a parody,

Or your favorite melody,

Criss-cross,

Applesauce,

On the sand,

Playing Tic-Tac-Toe.

The waves crashed against me,

Like a raging storm.

Up and down,

All around,

But I reach for your hand,

And you squeeze it tight.

Salty foam gathered in my eyes,

And tears dripped on my lips,

Fresh and wet,

Forget,

Just forget,

The pain I used to know.

The sand stuck to my feet like slippers,

Warm and comforting like a long lost dream,

Fairy dust,

Pick-up rust,

Sweet and salty,

Like the chocolate pretzels on our paper plates.

The sun shone on your hair,

And I froze your image forever in my mind,

Camera film,

Ocean foam,

Leaning back,

To laugh at the seaweed on my head.
