More Than Feelings

There's so many songs about blue eyes
But you're in love with my green.
You don't fit their stereotypes
Or their movie scenes.
You don't get all my quirks
But you accept them anyway.
You want to ask my dad
If you can change my last name.
You make jokes you don't find funny
Just to make me laugh
And you bring me the sunshine
When I walk down a dark path.
It's not just about feelings;
Feelings come and go.
It's a daily choice to hold on
When the world would just let go.
Things aren't always perfect;
Every couple has their fights.
But even when we disagree,
We're on each other's side.
We'll outlast our problems
Because we always talk things through,
And when I can't find myself
I can still count on you.
But I still like the feelings;
I still get the butterflies.
I still love your curls
And your smile, and your eyes.
I love to wear your hoodie
And I love to hear you sing
And I love it when you tell me
That I'm your everything.
It's not just about looks;
We aren't a sappy love song
Or a sentimental book,
But you still love my curves
And I still love to hold your hand.
I love being your baby girl,
And you love being my man.
