Old Mary

< This one I came up with just today. I didn't write it out to edit it before posting it, so hopefully it's still good... :P >

Old Mary,
Contrary,
To what everyone else thought you should be.
Old Mary,
So lonely;
You're locked up heart looked for love,
But never found the man with the key.
Sometimes you'd tell yourself everything
Turned out just how God meant it to be,
And it didn't matter anyway,
For you were too old to keep looking for fish in the sea.
But sitting broken on the shelf,
Did you ever believe yourself,
Or did you keep hoping that someday God,
Would send you company?
 Old Mary,
Old Mary.
You sit lonely on your porch,
Knitting things for the man next door.
He doesn't notice anything you do,
And you smile, glad you didn't marry him.
But sometimes, laying alone at night,
You wish he had married you.
Sometimes you tell yourself everything
Turned out just how God meant it to be,
And it didn't matter anyway,
For you were too old to keep looking for fish in the sea.
But sitting broken on the shelf,
Did you ever believe yourself,
Or did you keep hoping that someday God,
Would send you company?
Old Mary,
Old Mary.
You dream of the man coming to you,
And kneeling down on one knee;
You dream of a day someone looks at you,
And sees more than just Old Mary.
Sometimes you tell yourself everything
Turned out just how God meant it to be,
And it didn't matter anyway,
For you were too old to keep looking for fish in the sea.
But sitting broken on the shelf,
Did you ever believe yourself,
Or did you keep hoping that someday God
Would send you company?
Old Mary,
Old Mary.

Promise You'll Remember Me

< THE SONG YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR... >

Now comes the time to say goodbye,
And you beg me to wish you well.
I choke back tears I'd like to cry;
I am happy for your sake still.
REFRAIN:
I hope all you wish for comes to you,
And you become who you're hoping to be.
I know you will prosper in all you do,
So promise you'll remember me.

We give each other one last hug,
And we finally wave adieu.
I freeze this moment in my mind:
This is how I'll remember you.
REFRAIN

You drive away and I chase you,
Until you are too far away.
There's so much we can never do;
So much that I wanted to say.
REFRAIN

I lay on my bed all night long;
I stare at my ceiling and cry.
I tell myself you can't stay gone,
And goodbye is never goodbye.
REFRAIN

So tomorrow I'll smile again,
And forget pain a little while;
I'll see you, though I know not when,
And you will want to see me smile.
REFRAIN

I cannot write you everyday,
Or call as often as I would;
So don't forget these words I say,
'Til we be as close as we should
REFRAIN

I hope all you wish for comes to you,
And you become who you're hoping to be.
I know you will prosper in all you do,
So promise you'll remember me.

So promise you'll remember me.

I Know (I'm In Love With You)

< Trying something new- writing with a guy's voice? This is only the second of my three new songs, and I'm saving the best for last, so keep your eyes peeled for the next SAB post!

Just yesterday,
We were only casual friends,
But now we're both enemies
Of the world.
Now, I've been wrong
A time or two,
But I know I know I know
That I'm in love with you.
So you can carry this message
To the ends of the earth;
Say I don't belong to
Anyone else.
'Cause I've been wrong
A time or two,
But I know I know I know
That I'm in love with you.
If you'll take my love,
Than please take my hand,
And walk with me through
Valleys and hills.
'Cause I've been wrong
A time or two,
But I know I know I know
That I'm in love with you.
Time can change things;
Can play tricks on the heart.
It can make a man regret
His past choices.
But I've been wrong
A time or two,
And I know I know I know
That I'm in love with you.
I know I know I know
That I'm in love with you.

No More (Again)

< This one is kind of confusing... you may have to read it two or three times to get it... :P Sorry. >

Let the whispers be heard,
Again.
Let the goodbyes be said,
Again.
Let the answers continue
To sound as in a dream.
Let the whispers be heard,
Again.
Let the goodbyes be said,
Again.
Let the answers continue
To sound as in a dream.
Let hearts be broken,
No more.
Let the pieces be scattered,
No more.
Let the picture be shattered,
No more.
Let friendships be torn,
No more.
Let the pages be burned,
No more.
Let the answers be hidden,
No more.
But unite with the sound
Of the love your memories
Contain,
And let the beauty remain.
Let the whispers be heard,
Again.
Let the goodbyes be said,
Again.
Let the answers continue
To sound as in a dream.
Let the whispers be heard,
Again.
Let the goodbyes be said,
Again.
Let the answers continue
To sound as in a dream.
Let goodbye mean we're broken,
No more.
Let goodbye be forever,
No more.
Let goodbye be the ending,
No more,
But only gone for a little while.
Let goodbye be bond breaker,
No more.
Let goodbye mean forsaken,
No more.
Let goodbye become darkness,
No more,
But only a chapter that makes
Us stronger,
And brings us closer together.
Unite with the sound
Of love your memories
Contain,
And let the beauty remain.
Let the whispers be heard,
Again.
Let the goodbyes be said,
Again.
Let the answers continue
To sound as in a dream.

House of Glass

I live in a house of glass;
I see you but I can't pass
This wall standing between us.
We put our fingers to the wall,
But we don't really touch;
You speak but I don't hear.
REFRAIN:
We have built a house of glass,
To keep from getting close.
I see now that it was wrong,
But we already made our choice.
There is no handle on the door,
There is no key to the lock.
I can't escape the sound of clocks,
To the safety of your voice.
Someone save me, someone save me,
From this house of glass.

I look for a telephone;
I don't want to be alone.
I try to break down the wall;
The glass is strong and it won't crack,
But I want you back now,
Oh, now I want you back.
REFRAIN

Looks like the glass is fogging;
Didn't know I was crying.
Why, why did I build this wall?
Now I am walking in circles,
And I'm getting nowhere;
Guess these walls never end.
REFRAIN

I see shadows on the wall;
And I recognize them all.
I guess you didn't help build;
You're not the only one outside.
It's far too cold in here,
But maybe that's my heart.
REFRAIN

I have built a house of glass,
To keep from getting close.
Someone save me, someone save me,
From this house of glass.
I have built a house of glass,
To keep from getting close.
Someone save me, someone save me,
From this house of glass.

The Earlier Version:

I'm living in a house,
Made out of glass.
I can see you,
But I can't get past,
These walls that we've built up,
Between us.

Jesus Lamb I'll Always Be

< A different version of "I Am Jesus Little Lamb"; same tune. >

Jesus lamb I'll always be;
No one quite so glad as me!
For He feeds me when I hunger;
Guards me when things go asunder.
Calls me by His precious name;
Loves me every day the same!

Anywhere that I may be,
Jesus watches over me;
Never leaves me to be thirsty,
Loves me, guards me, alwayskeeps me.
Gives me His unending Peace;
Let's me rest on His own knees!

Livin' On a Prairie: Livin' on a Prayer Spoof

<THIS SONG IS SOOOOO STUPID! Trust me. You probably don't really even want to read it. But it's been forever since I posted a spoof, and this is one. One I wrote a long time ago out of stupidity.>

(Spoken: Once on a time, that feels so long ago...)

Tommy used to work on the farm,
Town folks' been on strike,
He's down on his luck,
It's tough,
So tough.
Gina works on diner all day,
Cooking for her man.
She bakes him a cake,
For love,
For love.
She says we've got to hold on,
To what we've got.
It doesn't make a difference if we made it or not.
We've got land;
That's a lot for the Great Depression;
We'll reap our harvest.
Whoa, we're half-way there.
Whoa, living on a Prairie,
Nice strong bones if we drink our dairy,
Living on a Prairie.

Tommy's got his work boots worn out;
Now he's holding on to what he used to sew them.
So tough, it's tough.
Gina dreams of running away,
When she cries in the night,
Tommy whispers: baby, it's O.K someday.
We've got to hold on to what we've got,
It doesn't make a difference if we made it or not.
We've got land;
That's a lot for the Great Depression.
We'll shoot our meat cow.
Whoa, we're half-way there.
Whoa, living on a Prairie;
Nice strong bones if we drink our dairy,
Living on a Prairie.
Living on a Prairie.

(Instrumental)

Oh, we've got to hold on,
Ready or not;
You pay for the farm when it's all that you've got.
Whoa, we're half-way there.
Whoa, living on a Prairie.
Nice strong bones if we drink our dairy.
Whoa, living on a Praire.
Whoa, we're half-way there.
Whoa, living on a Prairie,
Nice strong bones if we drink our dairy.
Whoa, living on a Prairie.
Whoa, we're half-way there.
Whoa, living on a Praire.
Nice strong bones if we drink our dairy.
Whoa, living on a Prairie,
Whoa.

Don't Tell Me

I can understand,
Why you're the first to go,
But don't pretend that it's not me,
'Cause I already know,
That isn't true.
Don't tell me,
You wish that you could stay;
Don't tell me,
That it'll be okay;
You only make it harder to let go.
Don't tell me,
That now I will be free;
Don't tell me,
There's other fish in the sea;
You only make it harder to let go.

The Eye

I faced the creature in the mirror;
It was green and it was clear.
"Did you tell what I meant to be hid?"
The eye answered, "I did, I did."

A river flowed onto the creamy land,
And I dried it up with one hand.
"And I shall do so once again."
I asked the eye, "But when, but when?"

"Whenever someone looks at me,
And clearly solves the mystery,
You forfeit your most private fears,
To anyone who holds you dear."

"Do not lie to me!"
I told the eye,
But forth bursts the sea,
As I start to cry.

The eye stared back without sympathy,
As if it were not part of me.
"Did you hear what I said?"
The eye replied, "I did, I did."

"What's wrong with turning to your friends,
When you're at your wits ends?"
I stared stubbornly at the eye,
But did not reply, Did not reply.

"You are but a lonely fool;
You must learn to follow nature's rules."
"And what is that?" I asked the eye.
"To hope for love before you die."

"I hope for love!" I did insist,
And the eye did not resist;
But perhaps it already knew,
That's h ow all my practiced speeches go.

"That is, I know that I love."
But the eye said, "That is not enough;
You must wish for love in return,
And trust is something you must learn."

"What does trust have to do with love?"
The eye replied, "Enough, enough."
"Well, then, have you no advice?"
"Yes; learn to listen to your eyes."

"To my eyes." I huffed back,
"And just what shall I learn from that?"
"To love yourself, so that you,
Can trust someone else to be true."

Life's Just Crazy

Life's just Crazy,
Crazy,
Crazy;
It always says, "Maybe,
Maybe,
Maybe,"
But it never really knows,
How it's gonna go.
When I picture my Somedays,
Somedays,
Somedays,
I only see Good days,
Good days,
Good days;
Please tell me that it's so,
'Cause I don't really know.
