Give An Inch...

You do all this boundary crossing
In the name of being kind
When the kindest thing that you could do
Is get out of my mind.
You ask for my forgiveness
Without apologizing
And they want me to believe
That you're not just patronizing
They don't understand
Why I can't just nod and smile,
But I found out the hard way
Give an inch, you'll take a mile.
Give an inch, you'll take a mile.
You keep your distance long enough
To think my guard is down
Then you start creeping over lines
Some think I don't need by now.
But I have people to protect;
They're worth more than peace of mind,
And I will stand my ground
So they can tell me I'm unkind.
They don't understand
Why I can't just nod and smile,
But I found out the hard way
Give and inch, you'll take a mile.
Give an inch, you'll take a mile.
